Advocacy

  • In the wake of the AAP having endorsed H.R. 2236, the Breastfeeding Promotion Act, we've posted a model letter on the AAP Federal Advocacy website that FAAPs can send to urge their Representative to cosponsor the bill! This bill desperately needs
    more sponsors to survive.

You can visit http://aap.grassroots.com/breastfeedingpromotionact/ and personalize the letter however you wish. Your letter will then go directly to your Member of Congress. You may need to log on to the Members Only Center to be able to view this page. Please be aware that this is for AAP Members only.

Look forward to more legislative activities in the future!

  • A small group of young physicians met with the Southern Nevada Immunization Coalition (SNIC) on Feb. 26th to develop a plan of action to improve immunization rates in our state

The goals we decided upon are:

    1. Advocacy for our issues at the State and Local levels
    2. Reimbursement issues - especially related to vaccine cost coverage
    3. Advertising and Public Education on the importance of immunizing
    4. Improving communication with the State Immunization Coalition, and improved VFC enforcement and vaccine dispersal
    5. How to involve more Pediatricians in the above process

An Upcoming meeting in May or June plans to address the Advocacy and Communication issues with speakers from the State and SNIC, as well as Lobbyists from the larger vaccine companies.

  • A Children's Hospital in Nevada?

It is possible... If we work together to make our patients' needs known!
There is a small coalition growing, but we need more participation to be heard.
